| Book Week is celebrated each year in August. Any book written by an Australian author published in the calendar year prior to the current calendar year can be nominated. Titles are submitted to a group of judges one from each state and territory. A notable list is created and the shortlist is developed. In August, the winners are announced. Each year there is a different theme to capture the joy of children's books. The library holds different activities during Book Week. This year the library will be visiting different schools and organising tours of the library. Each year there is a competition held between all school. The categories usually are:
This competition changes each year depending
on the theme. A local person from the community is asked to be judge
and prizes are awarded during a presentation at the end of the week.
