Through the NSW.net program we are able to offer library members access to a variety of databases.
Members are welcome to use the Library computers or their home computers to access these resources.  Please note: If you are accessing these online databases from home, you will be prompted to enter your library card number to gain access.

 

Australian New Zealand Reference Centre

ANZ Reference Centre is a general database of Australian and international content with articles in health, current affairs, science, social science, business and literature. Users can select or deselect the type of material they wish to access.

Consumer Health Complete

Consumer Health Complete contains full text articles covering all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated medicine. Offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on the environmental effects of individuals, corporations and local/national governments, and what can be done at each level to minimize these effects. Designed specifically for public libraries, the MasterFILE Premier database provides full text for more than 2,100 general reference publications with full text information dating as far back as 1975. Law @ your Library

Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC)

As part of a statewide service providing free access to legal information, the Library provides special legal resources in partnership with the State Library of NSW.

Each branch library holds:

  • Copies of 'Hot Topics' - a magazine style series on recent changes and current debates in the law.
  • A variety of legal pamphlets from both Government and non government organisations.
  • The Law Handbook

The Lithgow LIbrary holds a more extensive collection of books on the law:

  • Law Books for Libraries
  • A Legal Toolkit - a collection of plain-English books which answer everyday legal questions.

The legal resources available through the State Library LIAC www.liac.sl.nsw.gov.au and the INternet further extend the collection.

Learning Shop

The Lithgow Learning Shop provides information on learning opportunities available within the Lithgow region, plus selected ones from throughout Australia.

There are pamphlets/brochures on all the local pre-schools, day care centres, schools and adult education facilities, plus university and post compulsory education throughout Australia. There is also information on a wide variety of informal learning opportunities such as: parenting programs; craft, music and sporting groups; business training and special interest groups eg book groups, gardening clubs etc.

The Learning Shop is situated at the front of the Lithgow Library Learning Centre, near the newspapers and comfortable chairs. Check it out when next you are in the Library Learning Centre.
